Meet Our Grooming Team

Jenny
Owner, Groomer, FFCP, Pet First Aid & CPR Certified
Jenny started her journey in the pet industry as a dog groomer, specializing in the fear free approach. Her goal was to create a salon that provided one-to-one grooming, and a limited number of dogs her groomers could groom so as to decrease stress for not only her staff but the dog’s. “Grooming has a high burnout rate and is a trade that requires both physical and mental stamina” Ensuring a positive environment and a reward based approach was the only way she wanted to do this.

Nina
Salon Manager, Groomer, FFCP, Pet First Aid & CPR Certified
Nina is a professional dog groomer who has been surrounded by dogs her entire life. In 2021, she turned her lifelong passion for animals into a career, starting as a groomer at PetSmart. With a natural connection to animals and extensive experience working with dogs of all breeds, ages, and behaviors, Nina is committed to helping every dog look and feel their best. What sets The Emerald Paw apart is its dedication to creating a calming and welcoming environment, prioritizing the well-being of each pet. Every service is tailored to the unique needs of the dog, ensuring a low- stress and personalized grooming experience that makes both pets and their owners feel at ease.

Kennedy

Ensuring that the groom experience is a comfortable process is very important to her. She loves meeting all the new furry friends at The Emerald Paw. Every dog has their own unique personality and getting to know them over time is the best feeling. She has loved grooming from the day she started and describes it as one of the most rewarding experiences.

Lizzie
Groomer, FFCP, Pet First Aid & CPR Certified
Lizzie has always had a passion for animals. She has been in the pet care profession for over 4 years. After working closely with groomers, she found a new way to love and care for pets. She has completed her pet grooming schooling and is now a full time dog groomer at the emerald paw! Working with Jenny and the other groomers has been uplifting and a positive experience! She loves all breeds and mixes, but has a special spot in her heart for Pomeranians, any kind of greyhound, and English setters! When not at the salon, she enjoys going on hikes with her Pomeranian’s, Pumpkin and Pai! Her life revolves around dogs, and she wouldn’t have it any other way. She strives for all of her clients to be safe, happy, healthy, and comfortable at the salon!

Emily

Emily loves curly coats and breed trims, making Toy & Mini Poodles (and their mixes!) and West Highland White Terriers some of her favorite breeds to groom!
Currently Emily is on a weight restriction and is not taking new clients over 60lbs.
In her free time Emily enjoys reading and spending time with her children, as well as her high-energy pups, a Husky and a GSP.

What is Fear Free Grooming?
What Makes Us Different?
Here at The Emerald Paw, we believe in compassion over appearance. We know your pet is more than just a client—they’re family. Most pets visit the groomer every 4 to 6 weeks for their pawdicures, baths, or a full groom, spending a significant amount of time here with us. That’s why it’s essential that each visit is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We’re aware that some pets struggle with fear and anxiety around grooming, and science shows that repeated stress can impact health for both pets and humans. That’s why we follow a Fear Free grooming approach, never pushing your pet through discomfort for the sake of speed. Our groomers are specially trained to work with a gentle, calm touch, ensuring your pet feels safe and at ease. At The Emerald Paw, your pet’s experience matters to us. From soothing touches to their favorite treats, we’re committed to making every visit filled with love, care, and a relaxing environment that they’ll look forward to.
Dog Grooming FAQ’s
Yes, we groom all breeds, from small to large. If your dog has unique requirements, let us know in advance.
Yes, our groomers are trained to work with dogs of all temperaments. However, extreme aggression may require special arrangements.
Yes, we offer hypoallergenic shampoos and conditioners for pets with sensitive skin. Please let us know about any allergies or sensitivities in advance.
We do not allow pet parents to remain in the grooming area during the appointment. In most cases, dogs behave differently when their owner is present. They may become more anxious, protective or distracted which can make grooming less safe and more stressful. Our goal is to create a calm, structured, Fear Free environment where your dog can focus and build trust with their groomer?
Please inform us beforehand. We can adjust our approach to accommodate your pet’s specific health or mobility concerns.
At our Fear Free grooming salon, your dog stays with their groomer for the duration of their appointment. We do not rotate dogs in and out of kennels throughout the groom.
If a dog is having difficulty with handheld dryers, we may transition them to a specialized drying space that distributes low pressure air while they rest comfortably in a secure, enclosed area. This allows us to dry them thoroughly without causing additional stress.
If needed we can incorporate lick mats and other Fear Free tools to ensure your pup feels safe, supported and relaxed throughout their visit.
Matted fur can be painful for dogs. We will assess the severity and recommend appropriate grooming options, which may include shaving the mats for your pet’s comfort.
Yes! At the Emerald Paw, puppies are enrolled in a structured Puppy Program designed around their developmental stages. Early grooming experiences shape how a dog feels about handling, sounds and touch for life. Rushing can create fear; gradual and consistent exposure builds confidence.
As outlined in our service agreement, all pets presented for grooming must be fit and healthy. If your dog is not feeling well, we kindly ask that you reschedule once they are healthy. Grooming can be physically and emotionally stressful for a sick pet and our priority is always their safety and well being. If you are unsure if your dog is fit for the appointment please contact us prior to arrival.
Dogs with active fleas, contagious conditions, or signs of illness cannot be groomed.
Fleas
If fleas are discovered at check in or at any time during the grooming process, the service will be stopped immediately and you will be contacted to pick up your dog right away. A sanitation fee will be applied to cover the cost of disinfecting the entire salon and any revenue lost due to necessary closure for cleaning.
Ticks
We will remove ticks during the grooming process. However, if more than three (3) ticks are found, an additional service fee wil be applied and extra time may be added to the group to ensure safe and thorough removal.
Yes, our groomers are trained to perform breed-specific cuts and can also provide customized styles to suit your preferences.
We use high-quality, pet-safe shampoos, conditioners, and grooming tools. Let us know if you prefer a specific product for your pet.
Inform us in advance so we can use calming techniques. We also recommend bringing a favorite toy or blanket for comfort.
Yes, we have specialized tools and shampoos to help reduce shedding and keep your dog’s coat healthy.
Yes, late arrivals may need to be rescheduled, and no-show appointments may incur a fee.
We do not transition grooming dogs into group play after their appointment. Our groomers will notify you approximately 15 minutes before your dog’s groom is complete. This allows for a calm, person-to-person handoff that keeps your dog’s experience predictable and stress free.
If you need extra time before arrival, please let us know at drop-off so we can ensure we have a comfortable holding space available while your dog waits.
At The Emerald Paw grooming is customized to each individual dog. We charge hourly at a rate of $70 per hour. Time is based on breed, size, coat condition, temperament, and any special styling requests.
Because we Fear Free we prioritize comfort over speed. Some pets may require additional time to ensure a low stress, positive experience.
We can only provide estimates but would be happy to provide a more personalized estimate for ongoing appointments after the first visit.
Pricing can change based on time between visits, coat condition and grooming requests. Longer gaps between visits, can lead to matting and may require us to reintroduce parts of the grooming process more slowly. Changes in behavior or health related issues can also increase the time needed to groom your dog safely and comfortably.
Keeping the coat longer requires more brushing and drying time. Hand scissoring and breed-specific cuts take additional time due to the detail and complexity.
Our pricing reflects the time, skill and individualized care needed to ensure a safe and positive grooming experience.
RECURRING APPOINTMENT CLIENTS CANCELLATION POLICY
We kindly ask for 48 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your grooming appointment.
- Cancellations made with 48+ hours notice: No fee will be charged
- Cancellations made with less than 48 hours notice OR no-shows: You will be charged 100% of the scheduled grooming service fee.
Continued Cancellations:
If cancellations persist and a reliable schedule cannot be maintained, we may need to remove your dog from our recurring schedule. Future appointments would then need to be booked individually based on availability.
Anal glands are medically related structures and, when necessary, are best evaluated and expressed internally by a licensed veterinarian. Internal expression allows the gland to be fully emptied and then properly assessed for infection, impaction, abscessing or other underlying medical concerns.
It’s normal for some dogs to act a little differently after grooming. The process is physically and mentally stimulating, and they may feel tired, extra energetic, slightly itchy, or just “off for a few hours.
If your dog went from having a heavy coat or matting to being shaved shorter, the sudden change can feel very different. Matted coats pull tightly on the skin, so removing them can create a new, unfamiliar sensation. Similar to taking off a tight sweater you’ve worn for a long time, dogs may seem sensitive, shy or more aware of their body.
Most dogs return to normal within 24 hours. If your dog seems like they are in pain, extremely lethargic or you notice anything concerning, please contact us right away.
During business hours, our groomers are actively working with sharp tools such as shears and clippers. Grooming requires focus, precision and a calm environment. If a dog is startled by unfamiliar movement, voices or additional people in the space, they may suddenly shift or jump which can create a safety risk for both the dog and the groomer.
Our salon is intentionally designed to create a low-stimulating, safe space for dogs. Unlike open-concept salons with large viewing windows our grooming areas are structured to reduce outside visual distractions and foot traffic.
We are always happy to schedule tours outside of active grooming hours so you can see our space safely, ask questions and learn about our process.
